Course Selection GuidesĬourse Selection Guides offer college- and major-specific pathways for obtaining the associate’s degree and preparing for courses within the student's major after they transfer to a specific four-year university. This program is ideal for students who want to gain an associate degree for personal or professional goals, but do not intend to transfer to a four-year institution. Students who want to follow a structured academic curriculum but have no intention of pursuing a baccalaureate degree may be best suited for the Associate in General Education (AGE) degree. Associate's Degree for Special Purposes Associate in General Education (AGE) The Associate in General Education (AGE) in Nursing is designed for students who wish to begin their studies toward the Associate in Nursing degree and a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing at a four-year college or university. Associate in General Education (AGE) – Nursing AE curriculum courses focus on engineering but the degree also includes general education offerings that emphasize the development of analytical skills, written and oral communication, and competencies in math and science. Students can use this program to complete an Associate degree and then transfer. The Associate in Engineering (AE) is intended for students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate engineering degree at a four-year college or university. AFA curriculum courses focus on visual arts but the degree also includes general education offerings that emphasize the development of analytical skills, written and oral communication, and competencies in math and science. Students can use this program to complete an Associate's degree and then transfer. The Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) is intended for students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate fine arts degree (BFA or BAFA) at a four-year college or university. The ASTP is specifically for students interested in teaching in science and mathematics fields. The Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation (ASTP) is a two-year degree that prepares students who plan to transfer to a four-year university, major in Education and move into public teaching either as an elementary or middle school teacher. The Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation (ASTP) The Associate in Science (AS) is a two-year degree with an emphasis on courses such as biology, chemistry, engineering, geology, mathematics, or physics. The AATP is specifically for students interested in teaching in fields related to the Social Sciences and Humanities. The Associate in Arts in Teacher Preparation (AATP) is a two-year degree program that prepares students for transfer to a four-year university, major in Education and move into public teaching either as an elementary or middle school teacher. The Associate in Arts in Teacher Preparation (AATP) The Associate in Arts (AA) is a two-year degree with an emphasis on courses such as business, English, fine arts, foreign languages, history, philosophy, psychology, or sociology. The specific courses that the student chooses depend on his or her major and the school to that they will transfer. Students need to complete 30 hours of UGETC (Universal General Education Transfer Component), 15 hours of General Education courses, and 15 hours of transferable electives for a total of 60 hours. University transfer degree programs are designed for students who wish to complete two years of college and then transfer to four-year colleges or universities to complete their baccalaureate degrees. ![]()
